- These second-year jerseys switched from a traditional font to an italicized font. The nameplate letters and back numbers were taller than the first year. This Set 1 had the numbers placed too high to accommodate the nameplates so they were all removed and relocated approximately 3 inches lower on the back. This process left outlines of where the original numbers were. The stripes incorporated into the jersey design on the underarm gussets are called “victory stripes.” This entire set was auctioned on Ebay some years ago. I am confident people in the collecting community could add further details which I will also add as this is a cool historical piece of Tampa Bay Lightning uniform history. There apparently wasn’t enough time to reorder an entirely new set in time for the start of the season so this set was worn. The wear is nice, with sew repairs on them as well as the other stick and board wear marks. This feature of the relocated back numbers makes for easy identification of a ‘correct’ Set 1 1993 jersey.
