- This White CCM, size 52 jersey is believed to be issued and likely worn in the 1987-89 seasons. The crests from 87-90 look significantly skinnier than previous years. The crests were all hand-made throughout the 80’s and when CCM took over production of the jerseys starting in this season. The crests were no longer hand sewn due to the need to mass produce them for retail sale and the machines they used for production of the chain-stitched crests were smaller than what the Hawks had been using, so they had to scrunch them down – resulting in a different looking crest, known as the “pinhead” or “flat-face crest”. A picture of Jim wearing this style crested jersey is provided as reference.
- The jersey minimal use, there is an autograph “Best Wishes Jim Playfair” on the back right shoulder in thin Sharpie, see photos.
- Jim has a storied hockey career as both a Player and Coach: NHL Playing Career 2 Teams: Edmonton Oilers 83/84 (2 GP) & Chicago Blackhawks 87/88 (12GP) + 88/89 ( 7 GP). Professional Coach – 23 Years: Calgary Flames Head Coach 2006 -07 Season, Phoenix Coyotes Asst Coach 2011 – 17 Seasons, + ECHL/IHL/AHL 1993 – 2003 Seasons. We believe this to be an authentic jersey.
